Monster Pals Explains Bases

This is an 87 page e-book that explains the Base-10 system and introduces other bases, specifically Base-2 and Base-5. Friendly Monster Pals explain step-by-step with a lot of visuals to help children understand place value. Questions are posed throughout to encourage children to think and make connections in order to deepen their understanding.

For younger children, you may choose to use the first half of the book as a whole class option. It will help them understand place value. Then, you can give the book to advanced learners who can finish learning about other bases.

This can be loaded onto any tablet, computer or device that can read PDF's. It can also be projected in front of the classroom for a whole class learning.

It can also be used as a meaningful enrichment for your gifted math thinkers. You could use this an option for an independent activity. After reading the book, you could challenge them to think through how to add in a different base (Keep watching this space: a book will be coming soon for that!).
